Until we started looking into accommodation options for our first trip to Disney World I didn’t actually realise there were so many resorts on site and the different levels etc. Though we would have liked to stay at a Deluxe resort and we did originally think Old Key West would be a good choice due to the rooms being larger than most on property (for the equivalent room type) once we found out about the Royal Guest Rooms at Port Orleans Riverside the decision was made. Both of the girls absolutely adore the Disney Princesses so this really was a no brainer; having seen some pictures and videos we knew that they would be the perfect option.
The resort itself is beautiful and huge (we’ll cover that in another blog post) and the Royal Guest rooms really did not disappoint in real life. We had opted for a standard view and we were near to a car park so it wasn’t as glamorous as the river view rooms but the landscaping and the trees around the resort were still a nice view and we had a really quiet corner room. It was around a 10 minute walk from the main building, shop, food court and the main pool but there was a smaller pool only a couple of minutes away.
The room was just amazing; all of the little touches from the art on the walls, to the magic carpet on the floor, to the lamp taps in the bathroom it was so beautifully designed. The best part was the headboards with the light up fireworks; it would have been good if they stayed on for longer rather than having to push the button every time you wanted to see it for 15-20 seconds but it was a lovely touch all the same.
From a size perspective it was ok; there were 2 good sized beds, a table with 2 chairs, a large TV stand come drawer unit and then the bathroom area with further storage for cases etc. We were at Disney so had no intention of spending much time in the room so it covered everything we needed, it looked pretty and most importantly it added even more magic to the trip for our little girls, I would definitely stay again!
